John Griffin Jr.

John Griffin Jr, 74, of Crosslake, MN passed away on July 21, 2023 in Brainerd, MN. A Memorial Service for John will be held on Monday August 7, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Crosslake. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the start of the service at the Chapel. Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake following the service.

John was born on January 10^th, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John Sr. and Geraldine (Bloom) Griffin. He graduated from Vocational Tech High School in 1967 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1969. John was a proud Marine who served his country for several years. In the fall of 1974, he married his best friend Jude Anne Svendsen. Together they made their home in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood of Minneapolis.

John had a successful career as a draftsman at Onan Corporation for over 30 years. John lived the Minnesotan dream; he enjoyed a long retirement at his lake home in the summers and winters by the ocean in south Texas. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and dedicated Minnesota sports fan.

John is survived by his brother Tim (Linda) Griffin and many dear friends who he considered part of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Jude, his parents John Sr. & Geraldine, sister Connie, brother Dave, and sister Jenny. John will be missed dearly and remembered always.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John’s name to the Crosslake American Legion Post 500 in Crosslake, Minnesota.
