Joanne Moren

Joanne K. Moren, age 85, of Brainerd, and formerly Hackensack, passed away September 12, 2022, at Harmony House in Motley. She was born on July 4, 1937 to Carroll A. and Dorothy (Edlund) Johnstone.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lee, of Hackensack/Brainerd MN; two children, Tod of Milaca, MN and Kathleen (Joel) Jader of Pequot Lakes MN; sister, Susan Johnstone of California; niece, Carolyn Tieg, and nephew, Daniel (Melonie) Gonzales, of California; and several grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

Joanne was an alumna of the University of Minnesota, earning a Master’s Degree in Education. She was an elementary teacher in the Richfield, MN school system until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Northwoods Arts Council and Union Congregational Church where she was in the choir and bell choir.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, at Union Congregational Church, 401 Lake Avenue East, Hackensack, MN.  Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hackensack.
