Joan Johengen

Joan Frances (Beer) Johengen, 84, of Hackensack, formerly of Arlington, MN, died peacefully on March 19, 2017.

Joan was born July 10, 1932, to Louis and Frances (Tambornino) Beer in LeCenter, MN. She married Eugene Johengen on October 19, 1957 in Arlington, MN. She worked for the former North Central Airlines and later for the family owned business - J's Sales and Service of Arlington. She then went on to work at Technical Services for Electronics Inc. in Arlington until retirement. Gene and Joan moved to Hackensack, MN in 1993.

Joan was an active member of the Hackensack Senior Center, Pleasant Lake Association, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, gardening, and feeding the birds and other wildlife that visited.

Joan is survived by two children, James (Robin) Johengen of Eau Claire, WI and Janet Johengen of Lakewood, WA; one grandchild, Jasmine (Jeff Hughes) Johengen of Edwards AFB, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene and one son, Joseph.


A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hackensack. There will be visitation with the family one hour before services at the church.
