Brainerd

Jim Noehring, 58, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away on February 28, 2026.

Born on September 7, 1967, Jim filled his life with music, family, and friends.

Jim is survived by his longtime life companion, Kristen Krueger, who shared his love for almost 25 years. He also leaves behind his cherished bonus children, Devan and Sydney. The grandchildren were a big part of his life as well, and he loved spending time with them all. As the youngest of six, Jim was lucky enough to be bossed around by five older siblings. He is survived by his brothers Mike Noehring (Mary Kay), Lakeville, MN; John Noehring (Jill Terrill), Bemidji, MN; and his sisters Mary Jane Santele (Stephen), Plymouth, MN and Joan Duffy (Dave), Chisago, MN. He also loved spending time with his 18 nieces and nephews whenever possible.

He was preceded in death by his father, Art Noehring; his mother, Jane Gunderson Noehring; and his sister Patty Montplaisir.

Jim graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in Finance. He played with local bands, including Northern Zephyr Smoke for many years. He later became a familiar and friendly face at Mills GM, working for 18 years as a car salesman. He spent the last six years bartending at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course where his quick wit and easy smile made everyone feel like a regular. He made lasting friendships with coworkers and regulars alike, and the golf course and the community there were a special part of his life.

Jim was an amazing guitarist and musician. He played both professionally and for family and friends, his virtuousity and creativity always entertaining and uplifting his audience. Whether around the campfire, in front of a crowd, or just recording by himself, he poured his soul into his music. He also enjoyed cooking and time spent at home with Kris; fishing and hunting at the cabin on Leech Lake with family and friends; and golfing and vacationing in Costa Rica, Arizona and South Carolina.

Jim had a gift for making people laugh and feel welcome. His stories, songs, and sharp sense of humor will be deeply missed. He will be remembered in so many ways by so many people and will be a part of many campfire stories full of laughter and music for many years to come.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and raise a glass in his honor.

Tonight We Ride, Jim!
