Jim Holub

February 12, 1968 — January 3, 2026

Oak Grove

James “Jim” Warren Holub, age 57, of Oak Grove, Minnesota, passed away at his home on January 3, 2026. Jim was born on February 12, 1968, in Wadena, Minnesota, and was a proud Motley Rocket.

Jim went on to serve his country in the United States Navy, where he was on active duty from 1988 to 1992, followed by multiple years in the Navy Reserves. He served aboard the USS Wichita. During his service, Jim proudly became a Shellback on January 1, 1990, an accomplishment he deeply cherished.

Following his military service, Jim built a career in manufacturing sales. Jim was a passionate Minnesota sports fan, especially devoted to Golden Gopher Athletics before and during his daughter’s academic time there. He also faithfully followed Naval Academy football, never missing the annual Army-Navy game and continuing a long-standing wager each year with his nephew, Jacob Holub. Outside of sports, Jim loved Bigfoot lore, 1980's hair bands, and spending time at the cabin and at the lake. He was dedicated to his Wordscape app and would be happy for everyone to know he reached level 10,853.

Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathy Holub, his daughter, Emma Holub, his parents Larry and Sharon Holub, his sister Susan (Mike) Horstmann, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephew.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Holub, who passed away in 2023.

The two are now reunited.

Service for Jim will be held 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Motley Free Methodist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
