Jerry Skogland

Gerald "Jerry" L Skogland, age 80, of Baxter, Minnesota, passed away January 31, 2013 in Brainerd, Minnesota. He was born on May 23, 1932 to Leonard and Fay (Bohanon) Skogland in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After a six-day courtship, he married his wife of fifty-two years, Nyla Johnson, on April 8, 1960, in Mason City, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife; daughters: Cindy Hewitt, Brainerd, and Sherri (Dave) Goedker, Guatemala; brother, Leonard (Inga) Skogland; sister, Carol (Roy) Halverson; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, uncle Francis Murphy, a grandson, and many aunts and uncles.

Memorial service will be 1 PM on Tuesday, February 5, at First Baptist Church, 7623 Fairview Rd., Baxter, Minnesota.
Interment will be held at Rosy Cemetery, Dixon Lake, Minnesota, at a later date.
