Janet Axtell

April 10, 1950 — December 1, 2020

Janet L Axtell, age 70, of Nisswa, passed away on Mon, Dec 1, at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd.  Janet was born on April 10, 1950 to Philip  and Elva (Cook) Landgraf of Paynesville, MN. The family moved to Starbuck in 1956 and she graduated from Starbuck High School and then attended the University of Minnesota.  She was united in marriage to James Axtell on August 22, 1992.

She was the Food Service Director for the Madonna Towers Retirement Community in Rochester, MN for 23 years.  The couple lived in Spooner, Wisconsin for a few years and then moved to the Nisswa area where they were part owners of Structures Woodcare.

Janet was a tremendous entertainer who treasured time with her friends and her family.  She was a fun loving person who loved to travel, to cook, and play games.  She was very artistic and loved to do watercolors and stained glass.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, Philip and Elva Landgraf, and her brother-in-law Larry Magnuson

She is survived by her sister Suzanne Magnuson of Watertown, MN and her brother Gary (Linda) Landgraf of Oakdale, MN. Step children Michael (Sally) Axtell and Tomas (Linda) Axtell and step grandchildren Brianna and Holly all of Rochester, MN.   Nephews John (Gina) Magnuson, Tim  (Sarah)Magnuson, Eric((Aiko) Landgraf, niece Rachel ( Luke)Kusilek and their families, cousins  and many dear friends.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions a celebration of life will be held in the spring. She will be buried at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetary in Preston, MN.
