James (Jim) Rudbeck passed into the arms of the Lord while surrounded by his family on November 21, 2025.
James was born in Brainerd on February 27th, 1937, to Devere and Ludmilla (Nechanicky) Rudbeck. A devout Catholic, James attended school in Brainerd, where he developed a passion for music. He spent years playing the trumpet and served as the band president, demonstrating both leadership and dedication.
After graduating from high school, James joined the National Guard. In the 1960s and 1970s, he and his siblings gained recognition as the Rudbeck Bros. Racing Team. Together, they raced Ski-Doo snowmobiles and achieved remarkable success, including winning a world championship in 1969.
James was known for his strong desire for hard work, a trait he learned from his beloved father. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to farming, collecting, and restoring IH tractors, and sharing stories with those around him. His skills were unmatched; he could fix anything.
In the year 1972, James married the love of his life, Arlene Furstenberg. Together, they were inseparable and enjoyed farming, the great outdoors, traveling, and always chose to take the back roads on their adventures. They shared a wonderful life on the farm in Pillager before moving to their dream spot in Guthrie, MN.
James will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, unwavering devotion as a husband and grandfather, and his cherished friendships. He touched many lives with his kindness, laughter, and wisdom.
James is survived by his “Beautiful Bride,” Arlene; stepson Kim (Julie) Meyer; grandchildren Angela (Donald) Carlson, Adam (Heather) Meyer, Hunter (Kayla) Meyer, Rustin Meyer; and five great grandchildren. Siblings include Bob, Roger, Rick, Mike, and Mary, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack and Jerry; sister-in-law Kahren Rudbeck; stepson Kurt Meyer; and grandson David Meyer.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Woodland Good Samaritan Chapel, 100 Buffalo Hills Ln, Brainerd, MN on April 11, 2025. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. with visitation a half hour prior. There will be a light lunch and refreshments to follow. A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
