James Perrin

Perrin, James Ernest, age 90, of Nisswa, Minnesota, passed away on April 1st, 2024. 

James (Jim) was born in Kitchener, Ontario on December 14th, 1933, to Glenn Allen Perrin and Caroline Louise Perrin (Shumway). The family moved from Canada to Robbinsdale, Minnesota in 1945 after the war. Jim graduated from North High, Minneapolis in 1951 and went on to receive an MBA from the University of Minnesota, where he was also in the Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC). After college, Jim served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Windham Bay (CVE-92), followed by 6 years in the Navy Reserves. 

Jim had met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Bradley, and they were married June 20th, 1959, at St. Mark's Cathedral in Minneapolis. They spent their honeymoon going to Niagara Falls and Canada. Jim's primary occupation in life was running a business storing, repairing, and distributing theatre films throughout the 5-state area, based in Minneapolis. Jim recently received his 60-year pin as a Master Mason of Lodge 160, Plymouth, MN. He became a Shriner in 1970. Additionally, he was a member of the American Legion. 

After Jim retired, he and Barb moved up north to Nisswa, MN where they owned a cabin on Clark Lake. Jim enjoyed many things in life such as art, gardening, listening to classical music, driving in his classic car, eating his favorite meal of liver and onions, and living up north in his patch of forest that he called his “Tiny Part of God's Cathedral.” 

Jim is preceded in death by parents Glenn and Caroline, wife Barbara, and daughter Susan. He is survived by his sisters, Ruth and Amy; daughter, Victoria; and son, Greg; grandchildren, Catherine, James, Jeannie, Ben, Joseph, Thomas, Collin, and Cassandra; and great grandchildren, Samuel, Matthew, Caleb, Jayden, London, Isla, August, Charlotte, Everett, Archer, Ayden, Wyatt, Declan, and Gavin.

 A public service will be held at Oak Street Chapel in Baxter, MN on April 10, 2024, with a gathering beginning at 3pm, service at 4pm, followed by food and refreshments. A service for interment will be held at St. Mark’s Cathedral (519 Oak Road Street Minneapolis, MN 55403) on May 25th, 2024 at 10:00AM light refreshments will be served.
