James R. Hack

James Richard Hack, 67, of Brainerd MN entered eternal rest on April 26th, 2026, at the Lakewood Hospital in Staples MN after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

James was born in Peru, Illinois on August 12th, 1958.

James served in the army reserve in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1983.

James enjoyed motorcycles and riding every chance he could get. He enjoyed nature rides and walks with his fur babies Farley, Gunner & Jasper. He had a love for wolves. James loved fishing, campfires and BBQ s with friends and family. He loved visits and phone calls from his sisters, great niece, and great-great niece. He especially loved watching his daughter Amber's volleyball ball games, softball games and bowling. He loved going to races at North Central Speedway and Baja races at the fair with his daughter Amber and granddaughter Alexis.

James will be remembered for his kind heart and humbled spirit. His courageous and inspiring will to live was immeasurable. Despite his hardships with cancer, he selflessly met each day with courage, bravery, generosity and love.

James is survived by his daughter Amber Mitchell of Brainerd MN, sisters Cherie Sciarini of Oglesby IL, Joanne (Paul) Pipho of Mechanicsville, MD, Rachel Skerston of St. Cloud, MN, nephews Christopher Pipho of Mechanicsville, MD, Michael (Alexandra) Pipho of California, MD, niece Danielle Popidinski (Andy) of Garner, NC, great niece Abby (Michael) Coughlin of Ladd, IL, great-great nieces Miyah and Ariella Coughlin, great-great nephew Michael V Coughlin of Ladd, IL, Granddaughters Alexis Weston of Brainerd, MN, Stevie Schnichels of Brainerd, MN and a bonus granddaughter Brittani Weston of Brainerd, MN, his fur baby Jasper.

James is proceeded in death by his parents Dale Edward Hack and Ellen Anne Skerston,brother Dale Edward Hack Jr, brother in law Dan Sciarini, son in law Justin Mitchell & his fur babies Farley & Gunner.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at 4:00pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. There will be a visitation held beginning at 3:00pm. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in LaSalle, Illinois at a later date, with military honors presented.
