Inez Schmidt

Inez C. Schmidt, age 94, of Staples, passed away Monday Jan 16, 2006 at the Lakewood Health System in Staples. A Funeral service is planned for Saturday Jan 21, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with Pastor Roy Miles officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday night from 5:00-7:00. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery directly after the service. Inez was born on May 6, 1911 in Belmont, Nebraska to Harvey and Dolly Meeds. At the age of ten she, her parents, and four siblings, moved to South Dakota by covered wagon. They farmed at Scenic, South Dakota from 1923-1927 then moved to Motley where they farmed until Inez met Guyan Schmidt. They were married on July 20, 1936 in Motley. They lived and farmed in Philbrook until Inez moved to Staples after Guyans death, where she has resided in the Staples High Rise until now. Inez was a housewife with farming responsibilities. One of her joys was to belong to the Philbrook Friendly Hour Club which began in the 1940s and continues to this day. Inez is survived by several nieces and nephews and three sister in laws; Clara Schmidt, of Pueblo, CO, Leona Schmidt, of Staples, and Winnie Schmidt, of Staples. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters and one brother. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
