Howard E. Leifermann, 79, of Baxter, MN passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the St Cloud VA Medical Center. He was a proud Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elvira Leifermann, his son Steven (also a Marine Veteran), his brothers Robert and Dennis, and his niece Christine Lahte.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cyndie, 2 daughters Sharra Felske and Julie Peterson, 2 sons Chad Liefermann (Monique) and Jason Leifermann (Jamie), and his ‘children of the heart’, Ka and Thao Mua, grandchildren Benjamin Peterson, Kayla Schofield, Eyan Felske and Xander Felske, Alex Leifermann and Andrew Leifermann, Christopher Leifermann, Paige Leifermann and Mitchell Leifermann, and six great grandchildren (with one on the way), and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Howard’s grandchildren spent a lot of time with him. He was well loved and well respected. He worked at Potlatch for nearly 30 years. He served in the Vietnam War for 4 years. Upon leaving the Navy he was employed at the San Francisco Bay Area Waste Treatment Plant as an engineer. He was a carpenter who built the children hope chests, cradles, and whatever they asked for. His woodshop was his special place.

He will be so missed. He came back to Minnesota because this is where his heart was.

There will be a graveside service with Military Honors held on May 4, 2026, at the Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley. Celebration of Life service details will follow soon.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
