Herbert Erickson

September 1, 1910 — December 26, 2000

Herbert K. Erickson, age 90, of Brainerd passed away at St. Joseph?s Medical Center on Tuesday, December 26, 2000. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd with Pastor Rory Swenson officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 to 12 at the church. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Herbert Kenneth Erickson was born on September 1, 1910, in Biwabik, MN to John and Helmie (Winquist) Erickson. At a young age he moved to Two Harbors, MN where he grew up and attended schools, graduating with the class of 1928. He went on to attend Hibbing Community College and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. On January 6, 1939, he was married to Marion Thoreson in Minneapolis. In February of 1944 he entered the United States Army and served in the Philippines during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he and Marion moved to Brainerd, MN where he was a salesman at the Dodge car dealership. He later gained employment with State of Minnesota as a Highway Public Safety Information Officer where he worked until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW, the Elks Lodge and the Fraternal order of the Masons. He enjoyed woodworking and the out doors, especially fishing and time spent at the cabin. His most beloved time was that spent with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; his son, John (Mary) Erickson of Devils Lake, ND; his daughter, Linda (Robert) Jensen of Anoka; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Vera Bender of Brainerd.
