Harlan Beal

October 16, 1932 — March 19, 2018

Harlan B. Beal, 85, longtime resident of Hackensack, MN, and then Pine River, MN, passed away on March 19, 2018, at Edgewood Vista Senior Living in Brainerd, MN. Harlan and his identical twin brother Howard were born on October 16, 1932, to Floyd and Ernestine Beal in Minneapolis, MN.

Harlan was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army Security Agency. He was a member of the Pine River American Legion and the Jenkins VFW. Harlan married the love of his life, Doris Pirk, on August 31, 1957. They raised two sons, Kevin and Keith.

Harlan was self-employed installing, sanding and refinishing wood floors for many years in the Twin Cities area. In 1977 they moved to Hackensack, MN, where he continued his flooring business along with carpentry and home building until his retirement. After retirement Harlan and Doris moved to Pine River, MN. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially golf.

Harlan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; son, Kevin (Kim) Beal of Hackensack, MN; son, Keith (Dana) Beal of Esko, MN; grandchildren, Kelsey (Jose), Kyler (Alisha), and Madison; great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Alessandro, and Maverick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ernestine Beal; and his twin brother, Howard Beal.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a 2 PM on Saturday, April 7, at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Hackensack, at a later date.
