Gregory Allen McGillivray, 72, of Staples, Minnesota, passed away on October 31, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be presented following Mass, with a luncheon to follow.
Greg was born on January 8, 1954, in Morris, Minnesota, to Frank and Olga (Peterson) McGillivray.
Greg was a man who found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether he was mowing the lawn, casting a fishing line, or working on a woodworking project. He had a knack for keeping busy and also enjoyed slowing down to work on puzzles. An avid John Wayne fan, Greg appreciated a good Western and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, or watching college football.
Above all, Greg treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether sharing stories, enjoying time together, or simply being in their company, those moments held a special place in his heart. His love for his family and the memories they created together will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Debby; his children, Chris McGillivray, Darci (David) Odden, and Travis (Ashley) McGillivray; his cherished grandchildren, Bennett, Braxton, Madelyn, and Levi; his brother, Dave; and his beloved companion, Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lacey Jo; his parents, Frank and Olga McGillivray; and his siblings, Marlys, Marilyn, Frank Jr., Sonny, Judy, and Larry.
Greg will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will live on through the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the many special moments spent together.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
