Gregory Mark Knutsen
June 1, 1949 – June 20, 2026
Gregory Mark Knutsen, 77, peacefully passed away on June 20, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Greg was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, son and friend. He will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Knutsen; his sisters, Pamela Gromek (Tom) and Diana Carlson; his children, Eric Knutsen (Jenny), Andrea Kuechle (Tom), and Chris Kozlak (Janel); and his nephew, Scott Carlson.
Greg was a proud grandfather to Jacob Knutsen, Elizabeth Knutsen, Emersen Knutsen, Rachel Kuechle, Daniel Kuechle, Joseph Kozlak, Amanda Lefaive (Brandon), Victor Kozlak, Benton Kozlak, and Brianna Kozlak. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to London Knutsen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Knutsen; his father, Kenneth Knutsen; his brother, Douglas Knutsen; and his beloved grandson, Jonathan Raymond Kozlak.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Greg served with distinction in Vietnam as a Cobra helicopter crew chief with the 101st Airborne Division. For his courage and service to his country, he was awarded the Bronze Star. His military service remained a source of pride throughout his life.
Above all else, Greg cherished time spent with family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the values of love, service, perseverance, and devotion that he passed on to future generations.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 12:00 noon. Military honors and burial will follow at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
Greg will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
