Grace Snow

August 30, 1921 — September 17, 2016

Grace "Gracie" (VanEps) Snow, 95, Backus, MN, passed away on September 17, 2016 in Pine River, MN. She was born on August 30, 1921, the oldest daughter of Henry and Nettie (Zaffke) VanEps.

Gracie has been reunited with her husband, Harold Harvey Snow whom she married in 1942 and preceded her in death on November 10, 1992. Her parents, three brothers, one sister and granddaughter, Priscilla, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Kathy (Steve) Thaler of Backus, MN, Harold (Jeri) Snow of Skowhegan, ME, and LaVonne Fritz of Toledo, OR; nine beloved grandchildren: Lorri Karnath, Shannon (Mark) Broadus, Derek Karnath, Ryan (Gail) Snow, Michelle (Marc) Snow Curtis, Rachelle (Nathan) Lyn Burnham, Jodi (Tim) Jimerson, Rodger (Mylene) Fritz, Cristi Fritz; and nine cherished great grandchildren.

During World War II Gracie worked at the Honeywell Defense Plant in Minneapolis, MN. After relocating to the Oregon coast for a number of years, in 1964 she returned to her VanEps childhood home in Backus, MN.

Gracie was a hardworking, valued member of the Backus community and dearly loved not only by her family, but many friends as well. She loved hunting, fishing and gardening and she generously expressed her love for others by sharing the fruits of her labor. She spent many years as a member of both the Lakeside Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #368 where she enjoyed the fellowship and comradery of many.

beautiful flower so that all may remember her love when they see it. Cards of remembrance can be sent to Kathy Thaler in Backus, MN.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2:00 PM at Lakeside Baptist Church in Backus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Backus, MN.
