Gordon Opheim

Gordon Phillip Opheim, 81, of Motley, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, June 16, 2017. Services for Gordon will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 1:00PM with visitation one hour prior at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN. Burial will be at 10:00AM on Monday at the Motley Public Cemetery in Motley, MN.

Gordon was born on December 25, 1935 in Motley, MN to Emil and Florence (Thorsett) Opheim. He served in The United States Army. Gordon was also a Master Sargent in The United States Air Force. He had 34 years of civil service. Gordon retired from the military in 1979. He worked for the United States Postal Service before retiring in 1997. Gordon had a strong love for literature and gardening. He had a great knowledge for his family tree and will always be remembered for being very charitable to his community.

Gordon is survived by his daughters, Kasey (David) Dandro and Jennie McDonald both of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Helen Varner of Golden Valley, MN, Jan Badamo of Skokie, IL; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Florence; brothers, Vernon and Stanley; and sister, Elizabeth. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN 218.894.1910
