Georgina Macheel

Georgina Joan Macheel, age 96, resident of Lakewood Health System Care Center, entered the gates of heaven on April 9, 2017. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 1 pm, at the Motley United Methodist Church, with visitation during the hour prior to services.

Georgina was born October 7, 1920, in Oadby, England. She was the daughter of Thomas and Frances Ward. She married her husband, Alvin Macheel, on August 31, 1946, in Oadby, England. She was a WWII bride, and came over to America on the Queen Mary with other war brides. She settled in the Motley area. Mom loved to knit beautiful sweaters, slippers, and stocking caps for her family and friends. Her homemade apple pies and cookies were enjoyed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her oldest son, Ian; and her sisters, Rhea, Joyce, and Merle. She is survived by her daughters, Frances (Bill) Kokett and Pauline (Robert) Dukowitz; her sons, James Macheel, Dennis (Cindy) Macheel; her much-loved daughter-in-law, Marie (Ian) Macheel; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dennis Arthur Ward. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples.
