Georgia Hasselberg

November 22, 1924 — April 15, 2011

Georgia Hasselberg, age 86, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Care Center, on Friday, April 15. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, April 20, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Staples, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Belleville, IL.

Georgia was born November 22, 1924, in East St. Louis, IL, to Edward and Viola (Schneider) Graham Jr. She resided in Kansas City and St. Louis, MO, then returned to live in East St. Louis before she married Rueben on June 3, 1978 and moved to Staples, MN. Georgia attended Staples Methodist Church as long as she was able, after which she received weekly sermons on tape. Before her death she resided, with Rueben, at Lakewood Health System Care Center since 2010. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved antiquing and collectables, especially chickens.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Rueben of Staples; daughters, Jacqueline "Jackie" L. (Howard Harpstrite, special friend) Rickert of Trenton, IL and Janet L. (Ed) Harris of Jeffersonville, IN; step-sons, David (Sandy) Hasselberg of Lakeville, MN, Glen (Becky) Hasselberg of Staples, MN, and Joe (Barbara) Hasselberg of Motley, MN; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great, great-granddaughter; five step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola & Edward Graham; brothers, Edward Graham and Kenneth Graham; sister-in-law, Wilma Graham; son-in-law, Gene Rickert; and an infant granddaughter.


Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
