George Warn

George C. Warn, age 81, of Staples, Minnesota, passed away Friday morning, May 22, 2026, at Lakewood Care Center in Staples.

George was born December 8, 1945, in Eveleth, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Inez (Niemi) Warn. He grew up in Eveleth and married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Pogorelc, on June 11, 1966, in Eveleth.

For many years, George worked for Benson Optical and Lakewood Hospital. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching and playing baseball, and especially treasured spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Todd) O’Hotto of Nisswa, Minnesota; granddaughters, Courtney (Jaime) Barry of Baxter, Minnesota, and Bailey (Jerry) Havens of Port Hadlock, Washington; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Harvey Barry; brother, Jerry (Vonny) Warn of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Marilyn (James) Derubis of Wisconsin; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Janet and Dan Stanaway of Cloquet, Minnesota, and Susan and Mike Miroslavich of Plymouth, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Warn, Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth “Scooter” Warn, Jr.; brother, Richard Warn; and nephew, Bryan Stanaway.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, Minnesota, with burial following at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
