George 'Dave' Faust

November 22, 1940 — January 21, 2026

Nisswa

George David Faust (Dave) November 22, 1940 – January 21, 2026 George David Faust, known to most as Dave, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on November 22, 1940.

Dave attended the University of Minnesota and proudly served in the Minnesota National Guard. As a young man, he loved Minneapolis, where he built his early adult life, career, and independence. In retirement, he found deep contentment in Nisswa and the Brainerd Lakes area—places that reflected his love for nature, water, and a steady, grounded way of living.

Dave built a successful career in sales. He was good at what he did, took pride in his work, and enjoyed it—but he truly loved retirement and embraced it fully.

An avid outdoorsman, Dave loved fishing and especially cherished time spent on the lake. He was also a dedicated weightlifter throughout his life and took excellent care of himself, valuing routine, strength, and discipline.

Dave was a devoted football and hockey fan and remained a lifelong supporter of the Minnesota Gophers. He enjoyed following his teams and sharing that enthusiasm with family and friends.

Those who knew Dave remember him as steady, thoughtful, and calm. He never needed to say much to make a point—his consistency spoke for him. When the world felt uncertain, he remained grounded. When others rushed or panicked, he took the time to think things through. His life reflected the belief that real strength is quiet, patient, and rooted in integrity and self-trust.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, George; his mother, Greta; his brother, Paul; his wife, Teresa; and his son, Dan.

He is survived by his son, Anthony; his daughter, Laurie; his grandson, Michael; his granddaughters, Alexa and Tess; his six great-grandchildren, Logan, Chase, Trevin, Owen, Colton, and Addison; his sister-in-law, Nan; and his nieces, Anne and Gretchen.

Dave took great joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved watching their lives unfold. He held a deep, enduring love for his late wife, Teresa, and carried that love with him always. He was also fortunate to spend the final decade of his life with his loving partner, Mavis, and surrounded by countless friends who brought companionship, laughter, and warmth into his days.

Dave’s legacy lives on through his family and through the example he set—of discipline without rigidity, kindness without weakness, and strength without spectacle.

A spring memorial service will be held.
