Garald Cain

Gerry Cain was born on November 30, 1945, in Hastings, Minnesota, to Art and May Cain. He passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2026, with his loving wife by his side and his children nearby.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Gerry joined the Army Reserve. In 1975, he moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area, where he made his home and raised his family.

Gerry had a strong love for tractors and farming. He enjoyed attending tractor shows and auctions, which became some of his favorite hobbies. He also treasured the time he spent fishing in Canada with his oldest son, Chris, creating memories they would carry with them forever.

Gerry retired from Camp Ripley in 2005. During the last five years of his life, he was honored to serve on the Lake Edward Township Board. It was a position he truly loved and took great pride in. He was proud to serve his community and enjoyed being a part of the township.

In 1978, Gerry married the love of his life, Barbara “Barb” (Holmes) Cain. They shared 48 years of marital bliss together in their home in Nisswa, Minnesota. Their life together was filled with love, family, and many cherished memories.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Barb; his children, Lisa (Rob) Prysock, Gina Hatch, Wendy (Dave) Yarano, Chris (Rachel) Cain, Mike Cain, Nicole (Wayne) Waite, and Heeth (Mindy) Young; his 12 grandchildren; and his 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving beagle, Tootsie, and his cats, Chester and Tigger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and May Cain; his brother, Jim; his sister, Darlene Fritz; his brothers-in-law, George Fritz and Norman “Punk” Vredenburg; niece Vicki Toepper; and his beloved grandsons, Colten and Robert Cain, who were taken far too soon.

Gerry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for his family, his passion for farming and tractors, his enjoyment of fishing, and his dedication to his community will be remembered and cherished for years to come.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly.

Rest peacefully, Gerry. You will be forever loved and missed.

Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter with a visitation being held one hour prior. Burial will follow at 3pm at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
