Fred Parker, 79, known as Junior, ended his battle with Alzheimer's on May 11th at his home with family by his side. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM, Sat May 18th at Brenny Funeral Chapel. There will be a visitation for one hour prior to the service, with a lunch to follow.
Fred was born in Pequot Lakes, MN on Nov. 10th, 1939 to Fred and Helen (Turnquist)Parker. He was one of 12 children. Fred graduated from Washington High School in 1958. He proudly served in the USMC 1959 to 1963. He was very proud of his high school and Marine Corp wrestling accomplishments, his greatest was winning the All Marine Corp Championship. After his service he was employed by the Potlatch Corp. for almost 35 yrs. Fred loved people, he would strike up conversations with strangers wherever he went. He loved helping others any way he could. He was hard working, kind, decent, generous and oh such an awesome husband, dad and grandpa. He was a simple man with a big heart. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. He loved nothing better than being in the woods with his chainsaw.
He will be greatly missed by so many. Fred leaves behind his best friend and wife of 30 years Linda. Sons Gary (Laurel) Parker of Memphis, TN, Jon Peter Parker, of Brainerd and daughter Tammy (Terry) ORourke, White Bear Lake, He was also the best stepdad ever to Jamie (Tammy Gorron) Nelson, Bemidji, Jon (Amanda) Nelson, Clarksville, TN and Jeremy (Kim) Lanning, Nashville, IN. Grandchildren, Sean ORourke, Abby ORourke, Elise Parker, Shakela Bushway, Elijah Nelson, Cody Lanning, Dakota Lanning, Chelsey Nelson, Kalley Nelson, Bailey McLearen, Zachary Herron and Annabelle Lanning also seven great grandchildren. Brother: Tim (Peg) Parker, Lake Shore. Sisters: Nonie (Erv Gravdahl) Stumvoll, Nisswa, Nissie (Tom Oliphant) Langenbau, Hutchinson, Evelyn (Ron) Knauss, Chisago Lakes, and Patsy (Jim) Knauss, Lino Lakes, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Theone Schultz, Dolly, brothers Douglas, Tommy, Jim, and Dwight, who just passed on the 1st. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's research.
