Frederick Skog, of Pequot Lakes, MN, passed away 26 days short of his 99th birthday on March 25, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.
Fred was born on April 20, 1927 in Pequot Lakes. He married Beverly Olund on August 26, 1950. They were married for 67 years and raised five children.
Fred founded Crosslake Sheet Metal in 1974, which his son, Karl, eventually took over. He was a member of the men’s group at church and was heavily involved with Camp Knutson. Fred spent 18 years wintering in Lake Havasu in Arizona. Fred enjoyed the outdoors, a good game of golf, boating on Whitefish Lake, and spending time with family and friends. He loved living on the Whitefish chain and later on the Whitefish Golf Course. Fred will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his integrity, and grit.
Fred is survived by his children, Karen Day, Cindy Sundeen, Claudia (Michael) Foschi, Karl (Penny) Skog, and Jennifer (Craig) West; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; honorary daughter, Julie (Bob) Starosta; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Bev; parents, Karl and Berget (Aaberg) Skog; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Crosslake Lutheran Church, with visitation the hour prior and a luncheon to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Memorial donations will be given to Smile Train for cleft pallet in honor of his mother's family and can be donated here.
