Evelyn Ohlsson

Evelyn Borghild Ohlsson, 89, of Brainerd, passed away at Edgewood Vista on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Services for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service and stay for a brief reception following at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room prior to the interment.

Born in Minneapolis on December 3, 1929, Evelyn is the daughter of John and Borghild (Hansen) Mathisen. She was raised and educated in Mound, she graduated high school in 1947. She was united in marriage to Dennis Arvid Ohlsson on September 18, 1948. The couple lived in Wayzata where Evelyn was a homemaker and also worked for Nortronics in the 1960s. In 1973, they moved to South Long Lake near Brainerd. Evelyn continued to work outside the home as a housekeeper.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially Solitare and 500. She liked spending time fishing and enjoyed annual camping trips to Lake Jeanette. Indulging in sweets or going for a ride always brought a smile to her face. Most of all, Evelyn loved her family and children.

She will be missed and is survived by her children, Kenny (Sandy) of Merrifield and Lisa (Randy) Perlinger, of Brainerd; ten grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 2007; daughters, Denise Marks and Kathy Lodermeier; her parents, John and Borghild Mathisen; brother, Johnny Mathisen; and sister, Ruthy Airhart.
