Ephra Novotny

Ephra Maxine Novotny was born April 24, 1928, in Pelican Lake Township, Grant County, MN. She was the daughter of Arthur and Tressie Bushkowsky. Ephra grew up on a farm in Dassel, MN, where her parents raised vegetables. She attended school there and graduated from Dassel High School in 1946 as valedictorian of her class. Upon her graduation, she worked in Litchfield for 2 years and then moved to Le Sueur where she worked for Green Giant Company as a secretary for many years. On May 15, 1950, she married Glen Novotny at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In 1957 they moved to Woman Lake near Hackensack where they purchased and operated Lake View Resort until Glen's death in 1985. She was also a Deputy Auditor for Cass County until she retired in 1993. In 1994, she moved to Pine River and lived there until the present.

Ephra enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and gardening. She was a member of the Union Congressional Church in Hackensack.
Ephra has been a resident at the Good Samaritan Society in Pine River, MN, since April of 2016. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2016, with her fiancé, Robert Clover, faithfully sitting at her side. She reached the age of 88 years, 6 months and 13 days.

Ephra is survived by her fiancé, Robert Clover; nephews: Gary (Dixie) Terning of Chattanooga, TN, Eugene (Deb) Terning of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Dean (Tonya) Terning of Cokato, Dennis Terning of Cokato; as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Ephra was preceded in death by husband, Glen; parents, Arthur and Victoria; brother, Forest; and sister, Doris Terning.

Ephra's final resting place will be next to her husband, Glen, at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Hackensack. A private graveside service will be held.
