Edward Daniel Ziegler, Sr.

Edward Daniel “Eddie” Ziegler, Sr., age 65, of Staples, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Ziegler.

Eddie is survived by his significant other, Lynda; his children Angela (Jim) and their children Ben, Zack, Noah, Jack, and Levi; Natasha (Spencer) and their children James and Austin; and Edward Jr. (E.J.).

Born and raised in the Midway area of Saint Paul, Eddie was a 1978 graduate of Central High School. He remained deeply connected to his Midway roots throughout his life, while also cherishing the many summers spent on his family’s farm in Staples.

In his younger years, Eddie was a fixture in local broomball and softball leagues, fueled by a love for the game and the camaraderie of his teammates. That same spirit of fellowship continued into his later years through his highly anticipated annual Canadian fishing trips with “the boys.” As he approached retirement, Eddie poured his creativity into completing his beloved “mancave” and looking forward to future adventures with Lynda.

Above all, Eddie’s heart belonged to his family. He was a man of immense kindness who was always ready to lend a helping hand, and he remained a fiercely protective and passionate father to his children. Known for his “wild child” spirit and vibrant personality, his infectious enthusiasm for life ensured that he never entered a room unnoticed. Eddie leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable stories, each one a testament to a man whose heart was truly as big as his personality.

Eddie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
