Duane Strack

Duane A. Strack, age 83, of Motley formally of St. Cloud and Lake Alexander passed away on March 9, 2026.

Duane was born January 28, 1943, to Sylvester and Veronica (Dockendorf) Strack in St. Cloud, MN. Duane lived on a farm in Stearns County, raised and educated in St. Cloud and was a retired Municipal Sales Representative for DeZurk in Sartell. Duane built a cabin in 1969 and in 2000 a retirement home on Lake Alexander which he sold in 2015 when he moved to Motley. Duane also managed 40 acres of wildlife area for upland game habitat in western Morrison County, Chief Executive Officer for Amasa, Inc., past secretary for Brainerd Lakes Audubon Society, past officer for the Motley Area Historical Society and the Staples/Motley Area Arts Council and is a member of England Prairie Pioneer Club in Verndale.

Duane was a loyal volunteer at the Living Legacy Gardens in Staples for the past twenty-two years and Duane was involved in resetting the brick pathways to make it easier to maneuver a stroller or wheelchair through the gardens, help build a pergola and butterfly house, fundraising, wreath making in the fall to name a few of his activities. Duane enjoyed nature walks and pickleball.

Duane is survived by five nieces and nephews. His brother Marvin passed in 2007, and brother Elmer passed in 2019.

Duane’s family and friends have planned a celebration of life from 10am – 12pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
