Duane Larson

Duane Roy Larson “Lars”, born January 27, 1935, in Minneapolis, MN, passed away on November 5, 2025, at his home in Pine River.

Duane grew up one of 5 children to his parents, Roy and Marie (Borchert) Larson. He joined the Army in 1957 and after leaving the service he came north and fell in love with the area. Duane moved up to the Pine River area and built an electrical business. After retiring, he had more time for the things he loved, such as traveling, fishing, hunting, and being involved in his community and his church. Duane’s love of tending to his flower gardens was one of his favorite pass times. He also acted as the President of the Hand Lake Association, served on the Ponto Township board, and spent 17 years on the City Planning board. Duane always enjoyed visits from friends and family and seeing everyone at church.

Duane is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ruth (Donald) Legace, Elaine (Gerald) Johnson, Kenneth (Mary) Larson, and Mardell Hilden.

Services for Duane will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Pine River. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service.
