Donald Duayne Mason

Donald D Mason died at age 91 on Saturday, August 13, 2022.  Don is survived by his son, Monty (Renee Lassonde); his daughter, Laura Forslin (Dale-deceased); his grandchildren, Chad Forslin, Katie Bergen (Zach Johnson), Maddy Mason (Patrick Little), John Bergen, Annalee Mason, Jay Mason (Liz); and his two great grandsons, Bodie and Jett Johnson.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his daughter, Patty Bergen; and brother Merlin (Everal-deceased).

 

Don was married to Alice Ekberg Mason for 44 years until her death in 1997.  Don and Alice were able to take advantage of the early retirement offered when Univac made the transition to Unisys and built what would become the home of his heart on North Long Lake.  There his passion for sailing flourished, where if the wind was right, he set up sail(s).  He shared his passion with everyone around him and took countless crew members on their first sailing voyage.  When Alice died he was fortunate to love again and married Janet Coers.  They were married for 20 years until his deteriorating health brought him back to Minnesota to be near his children in Buffalo, MN.  Don's generous and kind soul lives on in the memories of all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed!
