Dolores Hannon

Dolores Delia Hannon (nee O’Reilly) passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Friendship Manor in Shakopee, Minnesota at the age of 94. A celebration of life service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, following visitation at 10:00. Interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery and a light luncheon will follow

Dee was born on May 27, 1930, to Isabelle O’Reilly (nee Schumacher) in Wabasha, Minnesota. There she attended school and graduated high school on May 27, 1948.

Dee moved to Minneapolis after graduation where she met a handsome young sailor, Stan Hannon. They were married in Wabasha, Minnesota on July 15, 1950, and celebrated over 71 years of marriage.

Dee worked at St. Francis Hospital until she got into sewing draperies and upholstery. She eventually started her own business, Country Living Interiors. She was a meticulous seamstress and sewed everything from love seats to tufted provincial davenports, to pontoons, helicopters, and stage curtain draperies.

Dee’s hobbies included baking, canning, vegetable and flower gardening. Her favorite sports were fishing, playing golf and cheering on the Vikings Football Team. She especially enjoyed playing cards, board games and doing jigsaw puzzles. Dee loved musicals and attended many productions with her daughters. Travel was also something that Dee and Stan discovered together. Their travels took them to multiple countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America.

Dee’s faith rang out strongest in her singing liturgical music in the Catholic choirs of St. Huberts, Chanhassen, Guardian Angels, Chaska, and St. Bridget’s, Mesa, Arizona, and Sacred Heart, Hackensack, At Sacred Heart she also acted as choir director for 22 years. She also sang with the Harmonaires and Tonenettes of Norwood-Young America.

Dee, inspired by the movie Sister Act, costumed, directed, and performed music from the movie in Hackensack and Mesa. Her choir was a mix of men and women who became known as “The Bad Habits.”

Dee is preceded in death by her stepfather William Cronk, son Terry, mother, Isabelle, and husband Stanley.

Dolores is survived by her sons, Steve Hannon, Mike (Dorothy) Hannon, and Tom Hannon; her daughters, Barbara Jean (Dale) Pittman and Carol (Dave) Orr; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
