Dennis Rutland

Dennis Rutland, age 65, of rural Pequot Lakes, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial services will be Saturday, December 3, at 11 AM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with the Rev. Richard Collman officiating with the Aurora Masonic Lodge #100 having their service at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Friends may visit during the hour prior to services, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Memorials are preferred.
Dennis Rutland was born August 20, 1940 in Clinton, MN, son of the late Donald and Irene (Saulsbury) Rutland. He graduated from Appleton High School and then attended Moorhead State University. He was united in marriage to Jan Rankinen on December 1, 1962, at Park Avenue Methodist Church in Minneapolis. He was in the Army National Guard for 17 years. They lived in Minnetonka from 1965 until 1992. They moved to Rock Lake, where he retired in August of 2005. He was a member of Motley United Methodist Church, where he had served as treasurer. He had served as Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Minneapolis, and also belonged to the Aurora Lodge in Brainerd, and was a Shriner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Dennis Rutland is survived by his wife, Jan; a son, Mike (Shawn) Rutland, of Bremerton, WA; three brothers, Virgil Rutland, of Eden Prairie, Darwin Rutland, of Vancouver, WA, and Jerry Rutland, of Princeton; and a sister, Kathleen Glaubitz, of Mankato. He was preceded in death by his parents.
