Celebrating the Life of Dave “Wally” Wickham

David (Wally) Allen Wickham was born on August 22, 1964, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to Milford and Lila (Fuhrman) Wickham. From an early age, Dave’s love for the outdoors was evident—family and friends often joked he was born with a fishing rod in one hand and a hunting rifle in the other. In 1976, the Wickham family relocated to Staples, where Dave began making new memories and friendships.

During his high school years, Dave was actively involved in many activities, but he truly excelled in Track and Football. After graduating in 1983, Dave explored a variety of paths in life before joining Trident Seafoods, where he devoted the next 39 years of his life.

On August 21, 2004, Dave married Patricia (Patty) Jo Dailey. Their union was a perfect match, and together they built the life they had always dreamed of. In 2006, they started constructing their dream home, where Dave nurtured his love for nature and woodworking. He continued to spend time fishing and hunting, sharing these moments with friends and family at every opportunity.

Dave’s sense of humor and warmth lit up every room he entered. Whether wearing one of his self-created gag hats or sharing a corny joke, he brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was known for his kindness and empathy, always making those he met feel genuinely cared for. Dave’s big heart and passion touched everyone who knew him.

Sadly, Dave’s spark faded on April 8, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Lila Wickham, and his wife, Patricia Wickham. He is survived by his significant other, Catherine Holker; stepchildren, Shawn (Bonnie) White and Josi Longbottom; siblings, Erv (Joan) Wickham, Linda (Mike) Sullivan, Ron (Rhonda) Wickham, and Paul (Terri) Wickham; grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

We invite all who knew and loved Dave to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating his life. Visitation will take place at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Motley Free Methodist Church in Motley, beginning at 1:00 PM. The church is located at 33 Wellwood St, Motley, MN 56466. Your presence and support are welcome as we come together to pay tribute to Dave’s legacy.

Dave was a simple man whose infectious spark and genuine heart will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
