David LeRoy Satherlie, age 70, was born to Vivian (Wannebo) and LeRoy Satherlie on November 30, 1947 and passed away at Essentia St. Joseph's Hospital in Brainerd on January 28, 2018. He attended Moorhead State College as a Music Major then switched to Bemidji State College and changed his major to Veterinary Medicine. He started his own construction company and continued with that until poor health stopped him. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1999 and had a stem cell transplant at the University of Minnesota in 2000. The stem cells came from an umbilical cord. In 2012 he had a series of slight strokes, which prevented back surgery then developed rheumatoid arthritis and between that and the strokes he ended up in the Good Samaritan Home in Pine River.
David is survived by his daughters, Susan (Chris) Gudim of Colorado, Meggan Satherlie of Pequot Lakes; son, Graham (Christine) Satherlie of North Carolina; one sister, Janis Allen of Manhattan Beach; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one niece, Shari Curell and one nephew, Scott Rubey.
