David Cory DeValk, age 75, of Breezy Point, passed away on February 2, 2026.
David spent much of his life fishing, hunting, boating, working on his vehicles, and enjoying time with friends, but above all he was devoted to and deeply cherished his children and family. He was a loving and dedicated father, brother, grandpa, uncle, and friend who will be missed for his humor, strong presence, and the way he always showed up for the people he cared about.
Dave worked at Mammoth Inc. for nearly 50 years, proudly supporting his family through his hard work and dedication. In semi-retirement, he continued working as a shuttle driver at Breezy Point Resort up until his passing. He will be remembered for his love of family and the time he spent helping those around him. His passing leaves a space in our lives that can never be filled, but we carry his memory with us always.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Cornelius “Swede” DeValk; his older sister and brother, Carol Quire and Gary DeValk; his nephew, John Bertelsen; and his great-niece, Emily Lewandowski.
He is survived by his four children: Daniel (Tara), Raquel (Jerrod) Gernat, Justin, and Alayna DeValk (Luke Johnson); his grandchildren: Ethan, Avery, Matthew Gernat, Camryn Gernat, and Jonathan Gernat; his siblings: Judy (Bill) Lewandowski, Susan (John) Bibeau, and Cheri Ayd (Gregg Fornell); his sister-in-law, Sheila DeValk; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.

A celebration of life with Christian Mass service will be held at Saint Raphael Catholic Church in New Hope, MN in the coming weeks. Please check back to the obituary for updated information.
