In Loving Memory of Dave Maynard Valley
January 28, 1959 – September 25, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dave Maynard Valley, age 66, who passed away of natural causes on September 25, 2025, in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Born on January 28, 1959, Dave lived a life full of color, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He had a sincere passion for fishing, spending countless peaceful mornings on the lake, and loved hunting for agates along Minnesota’s shores — always in search of nature’s hidden treasures.
Dave proudly served his country as a United States Marine, earning the respect of his fellow servicemen through his courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication. His service to our nation will be honored with a traditional military rifle salute at his memorial.
Those who knew Dave would agree he was a little “spicy” — full of personality, humor, and just enough mischief to keep everyone smiling. Beneath that spirited exterior was a heart of gold and a generous friend to many.
It is with great joy that we share that Dave accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior before his passing. His faith brought him peace, strength, and hope in his final days, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at rest in the loving arms of the Lord.
Dave is survived by his loving mother, Olive Marie; his beloved step-mom, Arla “Punky” Angell; his sisters, Cathy Shackle, Kris Huver, and Cande (Stacey) Acre; five nieces, four nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece.
The family also extends heartfelt thanks to close friends and caregivers Ted & Julie Munger of Motley, MN, for their compassionate care and support during Dave’s final days.
A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at the
