David "Dave" Demcho

David Michael Demcho was called to heaven the morning of August 28th with his wife, daughters, and huskies by his side after years long battle of prostate cancer. He left this world from the place he called home for 39 years, with a view of the lake.

Dave was born to Nick & Millie on May 31st, 1956, in Minneapolis MN. The youngest of 4 sisters, he had the ability to bring laughter to life. Dave was definitely the wild child of the house, being the only son.

In 1969, Dave met the love of his life while on his way to the penny candy store (Eddies’s) in NE Minneapolis. Technically, Dave was playing the role of a “Wing Man” when he stumbled upon KD Worcester. Years would pass forging a love that would last in a marriage of 45 years.

Those 45 years would bring 4 beautiful daughters who immediately brought love and life to a life “already” full of happiness.

Dave lived his life by example in that family, church, friends, work, and the lake all played impactful roles. A much younger Dave tore around the lakes on his slalom ski, played his 12-string guitar, raced snowmobiles, motorcycles, and cars. He also had a talent for playing the old squeezebox! Simply put Dave was fast and ferocious!

Once the girls arrived Dave put his focus on providing for his family. Purchasing a home in Crosslake meant Dave had to make a sacrifice to stay in the cities and work. His career started out simply, in the printing industry. After several years Dave felt a higher calling to help people.

Dave would go on to spend 35 years working for North Memorial, while also serving 30 as a Crosslake First responder and 28 years serving as a Crosslake Fire Fighter. This is an amazing career amassed by a man committed to not only taking care of his family, but also his community.

Dave will be missed by his wife KD of 45 years and daughters, who were the center of his life. Denise (James) children: Willow, Cedarlyn, SageLee, Hickory; Theresa (Dave) children: Ben, Bryson, Stacy; Michelle child: Savanah; Patricia (Tim) children: Bryson, Brooklyn, Mike, Braxton, Eli.

We believe Dave would appreciate if all who attend his service would wear their favorite Hawaiian or vacation shirt. While we will be gathering to say goodbye to Dave, we will also be celebrating the incredible life and legacy Dave left behind.

The viewing is going to be held on Wednesday, September 2nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brenny Family Funeral Chaple in Crosslake. The Funeral Mass event will be held at Immaculate Heart Church in Crosslake on September 3rd. Visitation starts at 10 a.m., funeral mass at 11, procession to Pinewood cemetery followed by a lunch at Immaculate Heart Church.
