Darrell Mortenson

Darrell Edward Mortenson, age 73, of Pequot Lakes, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2019 at Senior Class Care in Pequot Lakes with his family at his side. He was born September 25, 1945 in Pequot Lakes. Darrell met his wife, Pat, in 1966 and they were married for 51 years. He was a devout husband and family man, sportsman and loyal employee of the Potlatch Corporation for over 39 years. Darrell was a true sportsman in every sense of the word. He enjoyed hunting Dall sheep in the Alaskan mountains, caribou hunting in the Northwest Territory along with his countless hunting and fishing trips to Canada and here in central Minnesota.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Orris and Lila Mortenson, brother, Larry Mortenson and nephew, Greg Sagmoe. He is survived by his wife, Pat Mortenson; sons, Mark Mortenson (Teresia) and Scott Mortenson; grandchildren: Tyler, Kylee and Noah Mortenson; great grandchildren, Landon and Axel; sisters: Sharon Cooper, Darlene Tieskotter (Rich), Charlotte Roll (Steve), Debbie Foss; brother, Ron Mortenson (Margo); and several nieces and nephews.

Darrell’s family would like to thank the incredible staff at Senior Class Care for their love and devotion shown to Darrell and his entire family throughout his care. They also would like to thank the wonderful people at Knute Nelson for the hospice care that was provided with so much love and professionalism.

Services will be 1 PM on Saturday, March 30, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
