Clinton Wheeler December 14, 1930 – January 26, 2026
Clinton Wheeler passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on December 14, 1930, on the family farm, Clinton’s life was rooted in hard work, service, and a deep love of the land.
He attended country school and worked on the family farm until answering the call to serve his country, proudly joining the United States Navy. After his military service, Clinton returned home and dedicated many years driving semi trucks and working for Fruth Beverage, where he became well known as a dedicated beer deliveryman and a devoted Pabst salesman.
Farming was not just work for Clinton—it was his passion. He raised many kinds of livestock, with a special fondness for draft horses. Blessed with a natural green thumb, he could make just about anything grow. His connection to the land was matched by his connection to people; Clinton was a gifted storyteller who always had a joke or a story ready, often leaving those around him smiling.
Clinton also found joy in music. He founded the band “The Stablemen,” which played at many local dances and community events, bringing people together through music and laughter. He was a proud member of the Brainerd American Legion and remained devoted to his community throughout his life.
He was married to his beloved wife, Wilma Wheeler, with whom he shared a life full of love, partnership, and memories.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Wilma Wheeler; his children, Eugene Wheeler and Steven Wheeler; his stepson, Todd Fairley; and his 10 grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren who will carry forward his stories, humor, and love of family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton S. Wheeler and Blanche Wheeler; his sister, Lenea Wheeler; his brothers, Kenneth Wheeler, James Wheeler, and Burton Wheeler. His daughter Becky Wheeler and his grandson, Bradley Fairley.
Clinton Wheeler will be remembered for his steady work ethic, his love of farming, his service to his country, and the stories and laughter he so freely shared. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the music he played, and the family and friends who loved him.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held in the spring at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.
