Chester Walberg, Jr., age 87, of Pine River, and formerly Minneapolis, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011. He was born March 5, 1924, to Chester and Edith Walberg. Chester was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Minneapolis fireman for 30 years.
He is survived by his children: Kathryn Ann Riemer, Steve Walberg (Vicki), Janet Rogers, Charles Walberg (Connie); 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; daughter, JoEllen Joyce; brothers, Roland and Warren.
Services will be 1:30 PM on Tuesday, June 28, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, with Pastor John Monson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 29, at Royalton Memorial Cemetery, Pine County, MN.
