Cheryl Hansen (Engebretson) passed at Still Haven in Walker, MN on September 2nd, 2025, after a long battle, she had fought through of both cancer & hospice.

She was born March 27th, 1960 to Linda Lou and Burton Dale Engebretson in St Paul, MN.

She grew up in Moundsview, MN with her big family Daniel, Timothy, Suzette, Patricia, & Pamela. As well as with her mother and father.

The family also shared many fond memories in a beautiful farmhouse in Forest Lake, MN.

Cheryl lived in the city areas for most of her life , such as Rochester & Ramsey. She then moved to be closer to her sister Patricia & family in Crosby, Brainerd, Crosslake, and Walker areas as an adult.

Patricia & Cheryl grew even closer when this took place, there was also a point in time where the two had lived at the assisted living in Walker, MN together.

Cheryl is the mother to Christine and Floyd DeGroat, who she loved & cared for deeply.

Cheryl’s daughter Christine had eventually moved to join her mother, aunt Patricia, & family away from the cities and live in the smaller town of Crosby, MN.

Many fond memories were made within in this time and relationships grew close!

Cheryl adapted to the small town lifestyle & enjoyed her time. Cheryl and Christine became inseparable, which Christine continued on until Cheryl’s last breath.

Cheryl was extremely special, to many. She cared deeply about others, even before herself. Most of all, she cared deeply for her family and children who she loved tremendously. Cheryl had an extremely fun personality and shared many laughs with those around her.Cheryl enjoyed many hobbies, such as arts and crafts. Making tie blankets, jewelry, keepsake boxes, along with sun catchers. Many of these hobbies, she shared with her loving sister’s. Cheryl had a Pure joy for music, dancing, bingo, as well as keeping up with people magazines to see the top new gossip about the celebrities she enjoyed. Cheryl’s favorite hobby of all was being with her family. Especially her grandchildren Taylor, Emily, & Hailey.

Cheryl is survived by her sister Pamela. Her children Christine and Floyd, McKenzie & Austin (Niece & Nephew), who she loved as her own, Her wonderful goddaughter Mylinda, Grandchildren Taylor, Emily, & Hailey. Including Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Family and friends who she deeply admired and loved.

Cheryl is proceeded in death by her grandparents, her parents Linda and Burton, sister’s Suzette & Patricia, brother’s Danielle and Timothy, as well as uncle Ricky who was like a brother.

Cheryl will be deeply missed & admired by so many.

We want to acknowledge both The DeGroat/Engebretson family in the tremendous loss that has been faced in this past year.

Including the siblings of Cheryl’s, who she is now reunited with. As recent celebrations of life, both Timothy & Patricia had taken place recently as well.

Cheryl is now dancing & laughing with her siblings Daniel, Timothy, Suzette, Patricia, & family.

Cheryl fought extremely hard & is no longer in pain, she was at ease knowing that both her daughter Christine & niece McKenzie have each other through life’s journey & through the difficulty of the Loss of their mother’s.

A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Church of Emily in Emily, MN - 41536 Birchwood Drive in Emily MN 56447

Visitation will begin at 12:30, following with the service at 1pm.

We ask those to wear flannel & cowboy/cowgirl boots to best honor Cheryl, as she loved to dress up in such attire and had many fond memories related to this.
