Charles 'Chuck' Leppala

Charles Matt Leppala, 76, of Staples, MN, passesd away peacefully on May 14, 2026.

Charles was born on March 23, 1950, in Duluth, MN to Eino and Eileen Lappala. Chuck grew up in Duluth and went on to acquire his master’s degree in teaching and was a Work Experience Coordinator for Duluth Public Schools for many years until his retirement. Chuck was exceedingly proud of being a First Lieutenant in the Air Guard for over 20 years and was honorably discharged in 1989. Chuck also had the honor of being an Eagle Scout.

Chuck will be remembered for his humor, his love of his beloved cats through the years, his story telling, his many crafting abilities including pipe making that he was so proud of, and his love for Round Lake that was his home for so many years.

Chuck is survived by his children Matt Leppala, Lindsey Huber, Steve Elmer and Jim Elmer, many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Eino and Eileen Leppala, his brothers Ray Leppala and Dale Leppala and his soulmate Sharon Murray.

A private burial took place, and the family will have a private celebration of life service this fall.
