Carole G. Taylor, 90, of Crosslake, formerly of Crookston MN, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation and services will be held at Crosslake Lutheran Church on Friday, November 12, 2021. Visitation will begin 10 AM and services will follow at 12 PM.
Carole was born on November 29, 1930, to Hjalmer and Mildred (Opperud) Godfredsen in Lucca, North Dakota. A graduate of Enderlin High School in North Dakota, she received her degree in Education from Moorhead State University. Carole was united in marriage to Ralph W. Taylor, Jr. on September 2, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She taught in Twin Valley and Minneapolis, MN prior to becoming a professional mom (and grandma), homemaker and active member of her church and community. Endlessly caring and thoughtful, Carole was a “good egg” with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She was an active member of the Crosslake Lutheran Church where her volunteerism included putting her artful quilting abilities to work for a good cause with the Social Concerns Ministry Quilters, among other community-centered activities.
Carole welcomed all into her home with warm hospitality. There was always room at the table and enough food to feed an army. She was kind, compassionate and dearly loved by her close-knit family. Like her mother, Carole was infinitely creative–her art, hand-written notes, quilts, homemade clothing, sewed on buttons, patched elbows and knees, baked goods and passed-down talents are all treasured pieces of her legacy. She made so many wonderful memories for her family to carry forever in their hearts. Carole will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would especially like to thank the Whitefish at the Lakes staff and neighbors, Karla’s Place Hair Studio and St. Croix Hospice for all the love and comfort they provided for Carole.
Carole is survived by Ralph, her loving husband of 66 years; children Todd (Cheri) Taylor of Chico, CA, Tami (Jim) Nelson of Elk River, MN, Becky (Ron) Nelson of Olivia, MN, and Bart (Lisa) Taylor of Crosslake, MN; grandchildren Amanda Taylor, Kirsten Taylor, Ian Nelson, Ross (Naomi) Nelson, Reed Nelson, Hannah Taylor, and Millie Taylor; great-grandchildren Rivers and Selah Nelson; and sister Joy Godfredsen Haller of Burbank, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
