Carl Holsapple

August 20, 1945 — December 16, 2006

Carl Raymond Holsapple, age 61, of Motley, passed away December 16, 2006, at his home in Motley, after an eight month battle with cancer. He was born August 20, 1945 in Brainerd, MN to Seward and Isabelle (Gunderson) Holsapple. He graduated from Pillager High School, after which he served in the Army for three years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah Haux, whom he married on June 21st, 1969 in Crow Wing County, MN. They were married for 25 years and had three children, Louann, Lori, and Russell, and have four grandchildren. He remarried Martha (Sorter) Johnson on April 19th, 1997. Carl worked for the Cass County Highway Department for 37 years as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle and snowmobile, and listening to the music made by his children. Carl is survived by his wife, Martha Holsapple of Motley; daughters, Louann (Mark)Eppelsheimer of Motley, and Lori (Lyle) Johnson of Nisswa; son, Russell (LeAnn)Holsapple of Los Angeles, CA; four grandchildren, Brandon and Claire Eppelsheimer, Gavin Holsapple, and Garret Johnson; step children Lyndon Johnson, Aletha ( LeRoy) Flickinger, Lyle (Lori) Johnson, Linette (Tom) Horn, and Billy (Jnana) Johnson; step grandchildren, Stephanie, Jenny, Nicholas, Lance, Brandon, Kayla, Zachary, Daniel, Noah, Isaiah, Lanaiah, and Aadi; three sisters, Floris Haux, Brainerd, Amy Smith,Brainerd, and Lorna Rasinski, Pequot Lakes; and a brother, Bernie Holsapple, Brainerd; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 20th, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, with Pastor Stephen Sveom officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at the Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager. Arrangements entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
