Brad Lee Wroolie, 76, of Maine, died March 25, 2026 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in November 2025.
Brad was born in Little Falls on March 6, 1950, to William and Alice Wroolie, Fort Ripley.
Brad's Funeral Mass will be held at St Mathias Church, in St Mathias, MN, Friday June 12, at 11:00am. A public visitation will be held one hour before the service.
Brad graduated from Brainerd High School and enlisted in the US Navy in 1968. He was one of only twenty-two US Navy Captains who rose through the ranks in the Navy’s Limited Duty Officer Program. He had a 32 year career, he served on 11 ships, and retired in 2000 as a Navy Captain. He always said that it was an honor and privilege to serve, he loved what he did.
After his retirement from the military, Brad managed the San Diego Concurrent Technologies Corp office, and later joined Navy Southwest Region, in a civil service position, doing consultant work for the Admiral's staff.
He will be missed by his family and friends and remembered for his love for God and his country, his dedication to serve everyone, and his ability to bring humor to any situation.
Brad is survived by his wife, Charlotte, three children, Eric of England, Brian of California, and Christina (Steve) Poupard of Germany; two step sons, Andrew and Charles Swanson of Maine; nine Grandchildren, seven step-Grandchildren, three great Grandchildren and two step-great Grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers; Bill (Mary Beth), Clarence (Gloria Bruns), and Kevin (Beth) of Brainerd, Dennis (Cheryl) of OK, and sisters; Linda Paige (Peter Vos) of TX, and Pam (Larry) Japp of Brainerd; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons, Brent and Brant Wroolie, stepson Brian Swanson, and brothers Dale (1977) and Kelly (2026)
Arrangements are entrusted to Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home, Brainerd.
