Bonnie Flansburg

October 12, 1962 — July 25, 2025

Bonnie Flansburg, age 62, passed away on July 25, 2025, at her home in Motley. Born on October 12, 1962, in Wadena, Minnesota, Bonnie lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith.

After completing grade school, Bonnie pursued her calling in healthcare by earning her degree in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her career was spent caring for others in nursing homes and hospitals, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and professionalism.

Bonnie’s nurturing spirit extended far beyond her professional life. She had a profound commitment to raising foster children and opened her heart and home to many over the years. Her love knew no bounds and was felt deeply by all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.

She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Patricia and Richard Flansburg; significant other, Wayne Barros; children, Christina (John) Nelson, Kit Barros, Dusty Barros and her “daughter” from Ukraine, Oksana Andreyeva; grandchildren Brett Nelson, Jolie Nelson, Kitra Barros and Lydia Nelson; her brother, Kevin (Brenda) Flansburg; great-granddaughter Caroline; and the many foster children whose lives she enriched.

Bonnie found joy in simple pleasures from crocheting Afghans, doll cloths and many different things to — crafting wood decorations and clocks with care and creativity, working at the sawmill, relaxing on the deck with Wayne and family, camping under the stars, and fishing at a cherished spot in the Chippewa National Forest. These moments reflected the peace she found in nature and the deep connections she shared with those around her.

A woman of strong faith, Bonnie gave her life to the Lord and remained devoted to Him throughout her journey. Her spirituality was a guiding light that shaped every aspect of her life — from how she loved her family to how she served others through both work and worship.

Bonnie was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, partner, and friend. Her presence brought warmth to every room she entered. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who carry her love in their hearts.
