Beulah Florence Shequen, 96, of Motley, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 4, at 1:30 in Faith Lutheran Church with Rev, Stephen Sveom and Intern Pastor JillMichelle Cosart officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday January 3, from 4-6 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Services are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Staples. Beulah Florence Shequen, the daughter of Franklin Ward and Beulah Myrtle (Scott) Deline, was born September 25, 1910, in Leader, Minnesota. She grew up and attended rural school in Leader before graduating from Motley High School. On March 23, 1928 she was united in marriage to Marvin Edwin Shequen. Together they farmed and raised their family near Leader. She was active in the Swan Valley Lutheran Church and the Swan Valley Ladies Aide. Following their retirement in 1972 they moved to Motley. She lived in the Staples High Rise from 1995 to 1998 when she moved into the Harmony House in Motley. Beulah was an excellent cook, she loved gardening, quilting, latch hooking, puzzles, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She left her family with a beautiful handwritten history of her life from childhood through her adult life. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Marvin, Jr. (RoseMarie) Shequen, Glenwood, Wilmar Shequen, Motley, Margaret (Charles) Knapper, Northfield, Donald (Joanne) Shequen, Litchfield, Richard (Jan) Shequen, Lake City. 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. In Lieu of flowers Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church of Staples or to Harmony House of Motley, MN. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.
