Betty Ann Hohensee (Paulson) , age 93 of Wayzata, formerly of Brainerd, passed away peacefully On Thursday, June 12, 2025. Betty was born on June 16, 1931, at home on the Barber Farm in rural Brainerd, the daughter of John and Thelma (Johnson) Paulson. She graduated from Washington High School in 1949 as the co- valedictorian and then worked as a secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She married Howard F. Hohensee in the Summer of 1953 and had two children, Lisa and Greg. Upon the birth of Lisa in January of 1961, Betty became a stay at home mom. In 1978 Betty started her job as a bank teller at US Bank in Brainerd until retirement. She also served as secretary for Baxter City Council and reported the minutes to the Brainerd Daily Dispatch newspaper. She enjoyed lake living on White Sand Lake, snowmobiling, dancing, vacationing and spending time with family and many friends.
She is survived by her children Lisa (John) James and Greg (Jo Anne) Hohensee; grand daughter Maren (Alex) Broadston; great grand children Rory, Ryeland and Charlotte Broadston; sister-in- law, Lee Paulson; nieces Laurel Mezner, Stacy (Roger) Lindahl and Kristin (Kenny) Follman. She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Howard Hohensee, brother John Paulson, her in-laws Fred and Jessica Hohensee, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Frank Mezner, and nephew Michael Mezner.
Funeral services will be held at Brenny Funeral Home in Baxter (near Cub Foods) on Wednesday June 18, 2025 Visitation 10-11am, service 11am, lunch to follow, Interment Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd at 1:15 pm.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Trails of Orono for the excellent care given to Betty.
