Berniece Anderson was born in 1921 in Sacred Heart, MN, to Knute William and Ovidia Rude. She attended country school through 8th grade. As a young woman she worked as a housemaid earning $2 a week. In 1941 she married Clifford L. Anderson and raised five children during 49 years of marriage. In 1971 Clifford and Berniece moved to Nisswa where they established a truck garden selling fruits and vegetables as well as plants from their greenhouse. She also worked as an aide in a Brainerd nursing home.
Berniece enjoyed needlework, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, Bible study group and the fellowship of the Care and Share Committee at Christ Community Church. Her cinnamon rolls, lefse and "fat Emma" cookies are legendary to family and friends.
Berniece passed away at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd on March 17, 2018.
Berniece was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Werdin and Harris Rude; sister, Mae Midthun Anderson; sons-in-law, John Holden, Greg Endersbe and Floyd Flaata. She is survived by sons, Clayton (Carol), Bruce (Mary Ann), Warren (Joanie); daughters, Sharon Endersbe, Janice Flaata; brothers, Kenneth (June) Rude, Wesley Rude; 15 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 11 AM with funeral services following at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 31, at Christ Community Church, Nisswa. Lunch will follow services.
